Sunberry is one of our more recent inventions, and it has proved to be extremely popular. It's a dense whole-grain whole wheat sourdough bread with cranberries and sunflower seeds that makes great sandwiches, breakfast toast, or snack bread.
The sourdough starter we use to make Sunberry is based on a pure strain of Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis sourced from the UC Davis Food Science and Technology department. We also add about an ounce of ground flaxseed to each loaf which provides a healthy helping of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids.
Pairs well with butter & jams, cold cuts, creme cheese & other soft cheeses.
Each 20-ounce loaf is made with whole-grain wheat flour milled in Yolo County from Sacramento Valley grain, water, dried cranberries, sourdough starter, ground flax, yeast, salt.
